Gil and Orli Shaham present “Nigunim: Hebrew Melodies” at WQXR’s Greene Space in New York

On April 15, Gil and Orli Shaham celebrate the upcomingGil and Orli inside cover website release of their new CD, Nigunim: Hebrew Melodies,  in a evening of performance and conversation with New York’s classical music station and host Elliott Forrest.  This special event will take place at WQXR’s performance studio, the Greene Space, in downtown Manhattan, and will be presented as a live video webcast on at 7pm.

Gil brings Mozart’s “Turkish” concerto to the Toronto Symphony Orchestra


Gil returns to Toronto this spring when he joins the Toronto Symphony Orchestra and Music Director Peter Oundjian on April 17 and 18 for Mozart’s Violin Concerto No. 5, “the Turkish”.   The New York Times has praised Gil’s interpretation of Mozart’s work as “sweet-toned and trim, every phrase crisply articulated and thoughtfully shaped.”

Gil returns to Japan for recitals and performance with the NHK Symphony Orchestra

top0413A regular visitor to the far east, Gil travels to Japan in early March for a series of recitals and a concert with the NHK Symphony. The tour begins in Nagoya (March 1) and Tokyo (March 2), where Gil will be joined by frequent collaborator, pianist Akira Eguchi, in a recital program that features music by Bach, Prokofiev, Dorman and Beethoven. On March 3 in Tokyo’s Musashino Civic Hall, Gil presents an afternoon solo recital of three Bach Partitas. He concludes his Japan visit with a performance of Prokofiev’s Second Violin Concerto – a work included in the violin concertos of the 30’s project – with the NHK Symphony Orchestra and conductor Diego Matheuz.
